A LABOUR AGAINST THE WITCHHUNT open meeting on 6th January made important steps to make the campaign effective.
First, it had to deal with the unfortunate necessity of barring the Socialist Fight tendency from association with the campaign on the grounds that its politics leads it in the direction of antisemitism. This was agreed by over two to one.
With this out of the way, the meeting went on to have a positive discussion on building the campaign, including decisions on individual membership and affiliations. Moshe Machover agreed to be the honorary president of the campaign, and several MPs and unions will be invited to sponsor.
Protests are planned at forthcoming NEC meetings and the disciplinary hearings of several comrades which are coming up soon. Public meetings are being organised in London and Birmingham, with supporters encouraged to do similar elsewhere.
A leaflet and model resolution have been produced, and Briefing readers are encouraged to help build the campaign and resistance to the attempts by sections of the party machine and their allies on the right of the Party (especially those around Labour Friends of Israel) to undermine support for Corbyn and a transformation of the Party.
