We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of Simeon Andrews, previous secretary of the Labour Representation Committee.

In my years as LRC Vice-Chair Simeon Andrews encouraged .supported and always gave me invaluable help and advice. His contribution to the survival of the Labour Left in those times when we were utterly marginalised was huge. His absolute commitment to the labour and trade union movement in and outside Parliament was utterly respected.

We shared a curry shortly after Jeremy Corbyn became Leader and he was thrilled all the hard work had paid off in a way we simply could not have imagined in the dark days of New Labour . Simeon’s role in making that happen won’t be forgotten by any of us who knew and worked with him .
