The decision to refer Chris Williamson’s case back to the full NEC meeting on July 9 is as far as we know unique. It follows unacceptable interference through partisan political lobbying in the processes the party has been struggling to make faster, more robust and more effective. It amounts to a violation of the natural justice that members have a right to expect.
As we go to press, a cross-party initiative is proposing a bill to allow MPs to usurp the functions of government, delay Article 50 and rule out a No Deal Brexit. In practice this may be the surest way to give teeth to Jeremy's demand and take No Deal right off the table once and for all.
